Up to £5,000 Old Possums Practical Trust seeks to increase knowledge and appreciation of matters of historic, artistic, architectural, aesthetic, literary, musical or theatrical interest. Grants are more likely to be given for projects that involve children or young people; disabled or disadvantaged people; and communities. Helping people who are homeless to make their lives better Who can apply? Charities addressing homelessness What is available? Up to £15,000 StreetSmart help organisations supporting homelessness in the cities in which the campaign runs. Every penny raised in each city is spent only in that city. Successful applications will be those that help homeless people to make a better life for themselves, focussing on mental and physical health, employability and sustainable independent living. There is no formal application process, but charities should outline the aims and achievements of the organisation, and explain in detail the specific area of their work in need of financial support. If you would like to book a session, contact Lauren Murray on 0141 332 2444 or lauren.murray@gcvs.org.uk. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ EVENTSCOTLAND''S NATIONAL EVENTS PROGRAMME OPEN TO APPLICATIONS EventScotland''s National Events Programme round 15 is open to applications and will close on the 4th June 2010. The National Funding Programme, previously the Regional Funding Programme, complements the International Funding Programme and plays an integral role in developing domestic tourism across Scotland. Through the programme funding is available to support events (outside of the cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow) that showcase Scotland and help to generate tourism. Previous events supported through the programme include; the Wigtown Book Festival which received a grant of £12,205 to create a new infrastructure for the event to increase audience capacity and grow the event; and the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival which received a grant of £25,000 to target visitors from outside Scotland to help grow their audience numbers. The National Funding Programme is a development programme therefore it does not provide long-term or core funding. It is designed to support additional elements or new activity specifically to help events grow. http://digbig.com/5bbdfw ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ THE HEDLEY FOUNDATION The Hedley Foundation invites registered charities in the UK to apply for up to £5,000 support mainly young people with their education, creation, support, training, health and welfare. The Foundation also support disabled people and the terminally ill with provision of specialist equipment and support for carers. Last year the Foundation received 1,467 applications, of which less than two-thirds were within their funding criteria. The made 348 grants (averaging £3,000). The Trustees meet six times a year. The closing date for a meeting is three weeks beforehand. For more information on the Foundation including application deadline please click on the ''More'' link. http://www.hedleyfoundation.org.uk/ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ NEW BUSINESS START UP GRANT SCHEME LAUNCHED IN HIGHLANDS A new grant scheme has been introduced in the Highlands to help new businesses with their start up costs. It is hoped that at least 120 businesses will benefit from a grant - which can be used, for example, to buy equipment or market the new business. The scheme has been developed by The Highland Council, Highland Leader Programme, and Highland Opportunity, to help boost the local economy in the wake of the recession by encouraging the start up of new businesses. Delivery of the scheme will be by Highland Opportunity Ltd, the Enterprise Trust for the Highlands, via Business Gateway, the first point of access for information and advice on all services to business and social enterprises in the Highlands. Those interested in applying for a grant should contact call Business Gateway on 01463 713889, or contact their local adviser. http://digbig.com/5bbdft ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ VOLANT CHARITABLE TRUST Registered charities whose purpose is to alleviate poverty and social deprivation with particular emphasis on children''s and women''s issues have the opportunity to apply for funding through the Volant Charitable Trust. The Trust which was set up by the author J K Rowling also supports research into the causes, treatment and possible cures of Multiple Sclerosis. However this funding stream is currently fully committed and is not considering further applications for funding in this area at the present time. In addition the Trustees will as and when appropriate, support disaster appeals. The Trust will support both capital and revenue funding. Applications for funding requests of £10,000 or less, for those projects based in Scotland only, are dealt with by the Trust''s appointed agents, the Scottish Community Foundation.
