MANAGER

This exciting management role focuses on establishing this flagship initiative so that people with restricted mobility can access facilities in Glasgow city centre. Glasgow Shopmobility is a partnership of agencies committed to establishing a sustainable shopmobility scheme for the city. Initially, Glasgow Shopmobility will have bases in Buchanan Galleries and the St Enoch Centre. The longer term goal is to provide a service across the city centre that opens up shopping, cultural, social and tourist amenities to everyone and links to the Commonwealth Games venues in 2014.
We are looking for an experienced customer focused service manager to lead and drive the work of the team and develop robust systems to ensure the efficient and effective management of the shopmobility service. The successful candidate will play the key role in attracting funding and private investment for the initiative’s long term vision and sustainability.
Ideally, you will have previous experience of working to a Board of Directors and reporting to funders and the Board on operational and financial performance. It would be preferable if you have previous experience of a Shopmobility project and/ or have a background in the caring or voluntary sector. A thorough understanding and commitment to the needs of older people and those with disabilities is essential. You should be organised, results orientated and have a passionate commitment to our goals.

The North Lanarkshire Befriending Project recruits, trains and supports volunteers to befriend vulnerable young people referred to CSV by Social Workers. You would be expected to take responsibility for all aspects of the process from administration through to promotion, training and supporting volunteers, and matching them to young people and monitoring their progress.
You will need experience of supervising and supporting volunteers, and working with vulnerable or disabled people. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of people. Strong IT and administrative skills are also required as you will be expected to plan and organise a complex workload in order to achieve clearly defined goals. Finally, a passion and commitment to volunteering and its potential for social change is essential.

SCOTTISH DRUGS FORUM
DEVELOPMENT OFFICER - USER INVOLVEMENT (GREATER GLASGOW AND CLYDE)

The postholder will work as part of the Greater Glasgow and & Clyde Service User Involvement Partnership (SUIP) team to develop and sustain User Involvement within the area.
SUIP, set up in April 2008, is aimed at building the capacity of staff and services in Glasgow - including voluntary sector providers - to develop their own User Involvement practices.
Sponsored by Greater Glasgow & Clyde Alcohol & Drug Action Teams, the project contract is managed by Glasgow Addiction Service (GAS) with SDF and Alcohol Focus Scotland (AFS) delivering the work.
Partners include GAS, Community Addiction Teams, Aberlour Child Care Trust and Glasgow Council on Alcohol (on behalf of voluntary sector providers), secondary health services, community and residential services.
The successful applicant will report to SDF’s project manager, working alongside co-host agency AFS and local alcohol and drug services.
Applicants must have experience of working with vulnerable and excluded people as well as knowledge of alcohol and drug related services within the community setting.
SDF offers excellent terms and conditions including flexi-time, non-contributory pension and generous leave.

ADDICTION WORKERS TRAINING PROJECT VACANCIES in Glasgow area 2010
New recruits are being sought for the 2010 intake of Scottish Drugs Forum’s ground-breaking Addiction Workers Training Project (Glasgow area).
The course - launched in 2004 - trains former problematic drug users for a career in drug and alcohol social care services through a mixture of college-based and placement training. Trainees have the choice of staying on benefits or becoming waged while completing the year-long course, which includes study at Glasgow College of Nautical Studies.
AWTP 2010 offers:
- Placements in social care agencies
- SVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care
- Regular individual and group support
- Training and employment opportunities on completion.
Applicants must have been free from problematic drug or alcohol use for two years and must be living in the Glasgow area.
