From WEST OF SCOTLAND REGIONAL EQUALITY COUNCIL (WSREC):
Report Uncovers A Wide Variety In Race Equality Training In The Public Sector In The West Of Scotland:
There is no uniformity in race equality training that public sector organisations in the West of Scotland deliver to their employees, according to a new report launched by WSREC. The findings of the report by Vít Novotný, Race Equality Training in Public Sector Organisations in the West of Scotland, show that public sector organisations deliver anti-racist training to their employees. However, there are considerable differences between organisations relating, for example, to the type of training and its quantity and goals. Given such a wide range of approaches, the benefits for trainees and for organisations are not always clear. The report also considers that despite identified differences, an accreditation scheme for race equality training would have its advantages. Please click here http://www.wsrec.co.uk/newsite/content/view/123/227/ to access the report.

From THE LEARNING DISABILITY ALLIANCE SCOTLAND and VALUES INTO ACTION SCOTLAND:
Urgent Campaign to Save Local Area Coordination Services in Argyll and Bute:
At VIAS and LDAS, we are deeply concerned at Argyll and Bute Council’s decision to withdraw all funding from Local Authority Coordination (LAC) across the region. LAC provides a valued and essential part of learning disability provision, promoting meaningful inclusion for people and their families and ensuring that they play equal, active roles in their local communities. Their proposal will be discussed at an Executive Committee meeting of the Council on 28 January 2010. This gives us very little time to mobilise and oppose this so we would urge you to act quickly. Signing our e-petition will only take a few seconds! Although this situation is unique to Argyll and Bute area at present, the implications of their proposal to cut the Local Area Coordination service has wider reaching implications throughout Scotland. We would urge you, therefore, to support this campaign.
