Grant applications from Black and Minority Ethnic Older People in Scotland

Age Concern and Help the Aged in Scotland invites applications from its older people’s member groups and organisations supporting work with older people from black and minority ethnic communities for a one-off grant fund.  This grant fund, totalling £11,000, has become available from the winding up of the BMEEG (Black and Minority Ethnic Older People’s Group) Scotland whose closing funds have been transferred to Age Concern and Help the Aged in Scotland for dispersal.

Criteria for Applications

1.0       Purpose of Grant

The purpose of the grant must be to benefit black and minority ethnic older people in Scotland and can be used to support the purchase of specific items such as a computer or television, or to support a social event or outing, for example.

2.0       Qualifying criteria for application

  • All applicants must be Category 1 or 2 members of Age Concern and Help the Aged in Scotland, or willing to apply for membership which is free in these two categories. This can be applied for simultaneously with the grant application.
  • The grant fund is small and to maximise the potential number of beneficiaries we are inviting individual applications up to a maximum of £1000.

3.0       Closing date of applications

  • The first round of applications is now open and applications must be received by the closing date of 22 February 2010.

4.0       Application process

  • Grant and Membership (if applicable) application forms can be obtained directly from the Corporate Services Team by telephoning 0845 833 0200, by email - administration@ageconcernandhelptheagedscotland.org.uk or on the website www.ageconcernandhelptheagedscotland.org.uk .
  • All applications must be received by the closing date of 22 February 2010 for the next meeting of the Age Concern and Help the Aged in Scotland Membership, Standards and Grants Committee meeting on 10 March 2010.
  • All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their grant application.
