What Is The Brighter Futures Project?
Brighter Futures is a Mental Health Foundation and Glasgow Association for Mental Health partnership providing a peer mentoring service for older people in the community. It is funded by the Big Lottery to run for a period of two years. The aim is to significantly improve the quality of life of older people, enhancing their social networks, mental health and enabling meaningful activity
What Is Peer Mentoring & What Does A Peer Mentor Do?
Mentoring is a one to one relationship based upon trust, confidentiality and mutual involvement. Mentoring works particularly well with people who are at risk of exclusion from society and as part of voluntary and community schemes helping people to play a full part in their communities.
As a Brighter Futures volunteer you will be able to use the skills and experience you have built up during your lifetime to help an older person become less isolated and enhance their mental health and well-being.
This will involve visiting an older person on an agreed basis to support them to become more actively involved in their community.

This work aims to assess the range of provision for women in the North CHCP area.
I have attached a project brief (see below) for the part of the review which is to be put out to tender, i.e. the analysis of current service provision and service uptake.
I have also attached an electronic copy of the North Violence Against Women Directory which was commissioned last year (please contact Craig Broadfoot for a copy of this - contact details below). It gives the background and introduction to Violence Against Women and lists the contact details for all of the stakeholders to be consulted.

Consultant’s Brief
Introduction
The North Violence Against Women Implementation Group (VAWIG) is a multi agency group established to develop multi disciplinary activity to address Violence Against Women in the North Glasgow area. The VAWIG requires a freelance consultant to ascertain the views of stakeholders regarding service provision for women experiencing violence and abuse within this locality. This will provide the VAWIG with the focus for future planning to ensure a fit between identified need, stakeholder views and service provision. For the purposes of this research, the boundaries of the locality are the CHCP area.
The Brief
The consultant will produce a final report including recommendations that will be used to inform the future development of services to better respond to the needs of this group of service users. Working within the strategic framework laid down in the Scottish Government document Safer Lives Changed Lives: A shared approach to tackling violence against women in Scotland, the consultant will be required to:
- Define the continuum of support required by the service user group
- Assess current provision across the broad range of partners against the needs of women service users
- Identify gaps in the continuum
- Assess connectivity between services and sectors, particularly referral patterns
- Identify barriers to service access particularly for women with complex needs and women subject to immigration control
- Identify options in how gaps could be addressed, connectivity and access improved.

- The maximum fee for the commission is £10,000. Payment is expected to be 50% on commissioning and 50% when the final report has been accepted by the VAWIG.

HOUSING DEVELOPMENT OFFICER
This is a new position
Ref: HDO/1002. Salary: £24,743 - £28,679 (pro rata).
(part-time, 27 hours per week).
This position will be responsible for developing and influencing policy and practice in housing issues affecting refugees and their rights. The post holder will have sound knowledge of housing policy and legislation and be experienced in policy development. You will have the ability to research complex issues and produce high quality reports, and have excellent communication skills. You will also have experience of working with a wide range of housing stakeholders and have effective influencing skills.

INTERPRETING CO-ORDINATOR
Ref: IC/1002. Salary: £21,680 - £25,550 (pro-rata).
(part-time, 15 hours per week over four days).
This position will be responsible for delivering and monitoring an interpreting service to support the organisation in its work with asylum seekers and refugees. The post holder will have effective project management skills; good organisational, communication and relationship management skills; and will have experience of working across organisations. You should also have an awareness of issues facing refugees and experience of working in a multi cultural setting.
