18th September, Engender, 1a Haddington Place, Edinburgh, 12 - 2pm. The programme of support will help individuals and organisations plan and implement successful Equality strategies by: Providing a forum to discuss and debate contemporary Equality issues; Sharing and providing recognition for the best practices actively promoting Equality principles, practices, supporting legislation and creating a culture of inclusion; Developing the knowledge and skill base of individual participants and those organisations seeking to mainstream equalities within their organisation while offering mentoring and peer support; Increase knowledge and understanding of leadership and the skills required to lead/manage in the workplace. Engender’s Everywoman Campaign:

Government statistics tell us how many children and pensioners are living in poverty and unwittingly reveal why the numbers are proving so hard to bring down – the failure to acknowledge the gendered nature of poverty. Engender’s ‘Everywoman’ poster and postcards highlight the gender issues which leave women more vulnerable to transient and persistent poverty in their lifetime and we believe that these are the issues that need to be tackled if we are to significantly reduce the number of children and pensioners living in poverty. See the series of postcards and the poster here: www.engender.org.uk/news/119/Engender%27s_Everywoman_campaign.html
