EveryOne IN: Scotland’s Minority Ethnic (ME) Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual And Transgender Project (LGBT): Report Launch:
Friday 28th August, Glasgow City Chambers 9.30 am - 1.30 pm. The first research of its kind in Scotland, EveryOne IN tackles a subject that has long been ignored or deemed “too controversial” to openly discuss. It sets out ten guiding principles as to how best address the inequalities experienced by Scotland’s Minority Ethnic LGBT community. This launch event gives the opportunity to find out the results of our research, and to take part in discussions of six key themes: the need for stronger leadership; how faith and religion can impact on the lives of ME/LGBT individuals; problems faced by ME/LGBT asylum seekers, refugees & migrants; ME/LGBT peoples experiences of discrimination and harassment; the importance of celebrating ME/LGBT diversity and cultural heritage; key gaps in research and knowledge. Launch Of The Safety In Numbers Training Pack:
Thursday 30th July, City Chambers, Satinwood Suite, Glasgow, 9:30am - 12:30pm. In 2006 the LGBT Community Safety Forum worked in partnership with students from the Central College of Commerce to create a short film exploring LGBT people’s experiences of safety in Glasgow. That training pack is now ready and we would like to invite you or a representative from your organisation to come along to the launch. On the day you will hear from representatives from the Community Safety Forum and film participants explaining the background and process to the film being made. There will also be an opportunity to watch the Safety In Numbers film. You will also receive a very short input on how the pack should be used. This will be supplemented in the near future by further one day training courses which will provide more in depth training on how to use the pack. If you would like to attend please contact Jim Dunsmore, Equalities Officer, Glasgow Community & Safety Services, Tel: 0141 276 7749, Email: jim.dunsmore@drs.glasgow.gov.uk

From SKILL SCOTLAND:
Wanted: Disabled People To Work With The Independent Living In Scotland Project:
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has recently set up an Independent Living in Scotland project. The aim of the project is to strengthen the Independent Living Movement in Scotland by working with it to have its voice heard, as well as encouraging disabled people to join the movement. The EHRC is therefore seeking disabled people and disabled peoples’ organisations to work with the project to identify priorities for long-term change. The project defines independent living as a situation where disabled people of all ages have the same freedom, choice, dignity and control as other citizens at home, work, and in the community. It does not mean living by yourself or fending for yourself. It means rights to practical assistance and support to participate in society and live an ordinary life. If you would like to become involved in the project (on either an individual or organisational basis), please email contactilis@equalityhumanrights.com
Interviewees Sought For Research Into Disability And Employment:
