This website originated as an add-on to the main Glasgow Equality Networks Forum website. The purpose of the site was to provide a home to the weekly Equality Updates e-newsletter and a space to develop resource pages related to work around equalities specifically relating to Glasgow, but including relevant Scottish and UK news. This work is funded through Glasgow City Council, whose funding pays for a part-time member of staff.
The site is now being further developed to provide news and resources relevant to and reflecting work on equalities taking place across Scotland. The work on this forms part of the GCVS Mainstreaming Equalities Change Champion project, which is funded through the Big Lottery Fund in Scotland, through the Supporting Voluntary Action Programme being administered by SCVO (the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations).
The focus remains on the the voluntary sector, and aims to reflect the work and concerns of the voluntary sector in regard to equalities issues as well as to provide information to support partnership working / information sharing / consultation and engagement / campaigning. Over the next few months we will be developing the site to reflect more of the work that is being done across Scotland: if you have information that you think should be included please contact us.
In line with the development to a more cross-Scotland website, the weekly Equality Updates e-newsletter will itself be less Glasgow focussed, though we will continue to include as much local equalities news in the newsletter as possible, as well as to explore different options for delivering that information (see the Events Diary for events across Scotland). If you have news items you would like to include in the newsletter our deadline is generally 3pm each Thursday.
