Equality and diversity training is one of our core work strands and we offer tailored courses in Promoting Equality, Race Awareness, Mental Health Awareness and Disability Awareness for a variety of statutory and voluntary sector organisations. By the end of a typical Promoting Equality day participants will:
* be able to explain why an awareness of equality and diversity is vital to providing a good service
* have an insight into the impact of discrimination on individual life chances
* know the “six strands” and be aware of some of the other, less well recognised factors that lead to discrimination
* be more aware of their own beliefs and attitudes, and how these influence actions, including work practice
* have an understanding of the process of institutional discrimination and how, despite apparent well meaning and good intent, it manifests in organisations and throughout society.
* know about the law in relation to equality and diversity, including recent and forthcoming changes
* have had the opportunity to challenge common myths and misconceptions about promoting equality
* know about some of the ways in which individuals and organisations can actively promote equality. e.g. use of language, equality impact assessment
* have identified opportunities within their job to contribute to embracing diversity and promoting equality.
